Like all new technologies, it is important to comprehensively evaluate for the full operational lifecycle of a windfarm site (normally 20-25 years). The informed choice for new windfarm developments is the permanent SLX MetMast up to 120m tall taking everything into account.

However, from time to time, site-specific requirements may differ, for instance, the requirement for reference met data on windfarms which have been in operation for some time or perhaps, difficulty with local planning authority or access difficulty etc.

Data Structures have recently had the pleasure to successfully work with Statkraft and ZX Lidars on two existing windfarms in Waterford & Donegal. We are delighted with this opportunity to continue developing our meteorological measurement services portfolio into the Wind Energy industry as Ireland’s leading supplier.

After selling his shares in Shamrock Communications Limited in 1998, John Kelly decided to do it alone (with super family support) and established Lynx Communications Ireland Limited.

We soon erected our first Telecoms Towers & Met Masts and received continuous projects throughout Ireland as a sub-contractor.
In 2002 we decided to design & supply as a main contractor and since then we have supplied nearly 2800 Met Masts | TelecomsTowers | RadioMasts | Monopoles to our clients across many sectors, at home and abroad.

In 2017 we purchased SLX and we also acquired the KONA brand & IP. We decided that this was a great opportunity to combine the brands together and DataStructures was born. 

We are now a firmly established supplier of elevated structures and enjoy many long term relationships with clients and suppliers alike.

This time Data Structures were supplied with the lattice tower by the client and we undertook the role of PSCS for the full site build and certification including: access track, foundations, ducting, tower install, ODU cabinet, power, and earth.

DATA STRUCTURES are delighted to be participating in the IWEA Offshore Forum on 8th November 2018 @ The Arklow Bay Hotel.
This initiative by IWEA & NOW Ireland will focus on the evolving energy policy and investments in the Irish Offshore Wind sector.

We have been involved with Meteorological Services to the Irish Offshore Wind clients since 2003. Initially working with GE Renewable Energy & Francis & Lewis regarding the installation of the Arklow Bank (South) MetMast, later servicing this structure and sensors for Airtricity / SSE Renewables over the years. Our people were also involved with design work in relation to the MetMast installation for Oriel Windfarm.
